　　该剧改编自休·豪伊所著同名畅销科幻系列小说，故事发生在一个反乌托邦未来，大约一万名人类在144层深的筒仓型地堡居住，他们被告知外面的世界因受到毒气感染而变得不适合人类居住，仅余的幸存者遂躲进地堡避难，并制订了规条来维持地堡中的新社会运作。

1994年6月的一个夜晚，洛杉矶市某个郊外社区的一户人家突发血腥惨案。一男一女不知被何人杀害，死状可怖，而警方初步调查后很快将嫌疑人指向了女性死者的前夫——著名黑人橄榄球明星欧·杰·辛普森（小库珀·古丁 Cuba Gooding Jr. 饰）。现场大量证据将矛头对准了辛普森，检方常胜女将克拉克（莎拉·保罗森 Sarah Paulson 饰）磨刀霍霍，势要将这位国民明星拉下神坛。与之相对，辛普森拒绝认罪，他一度逃亡，上演了全国直播的大戏，之后不惜巨资聘请了梦幻律师团为其辩护。对战双方纷纷派出精兵强将尽最大可能搜集对自己有力的人证物证。而牵动全美民众之心的“辛普森案”正朝着难以预料的方向驶去……
